This historic railroad town is reminiscent of a quaint New England fishing village. Located just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, it's a short 18-mile trip by car or a delightful six miles across the San Francisco Bay by ferry. Much of Tiburon is made up of houseboats now landlocked and remodeled as tourist destinations. This town's first elegant homes were built as summer retreats for wealthy San Franciscans. There is plenty of open space in this community and the remaining land has been developed with mainly large, new homes selling upwards of $10 million. The architecture is a mix of small, remodeled cottages, modern showplace residences and extraordinary examples of engineering that protrude out over the water. The short ferry commute to San Francisco makes this an excellent community to find a new, luxury home away from the city.
