Here is an overview of the purchasing process:
  1. Establish realistic parameters about the home you are looking for and convey them to your realtor.
  2. Contact a lender for pre-qualification or pre-approval.
  3. Look at properties and make an offer on your favorite.
  4. If offer is rejected, you can make another offer, or move on.
  5. If offer is accepted, "escrow" may be opened.
  6. Submit your loan application
  7. Schedule inspections and review disclosures.
  8. Have an appraisal done to assess property value for lending purposes.
  9. Provide lender with any additional paperwork for loan approval.
  10. Conduct a final walk-through near closing date.
  11. With seller's permission, call utility companies to coordinate utility shut-off/on/
  12. Sign closing paperwork (escrow will set this up).
  13. After closing, escrow may submit certain documents to the county recorder.
  14. Upon recording, the transaction is complete!
